On October 5, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the Ministry of Defense team and diplomatic staff from the President's Office to discuss arms supply from international partners and new tasks for long-range operations.
Discussion on Arms Supply
Zelensky noted that the agreements regarding arms supply are absolutely clear. He emphasized that new agreements are being added daily at the political level with leaders of partner countries. In particular, the discussions included:
- ammunition for combat aviation, specifically for F-16;
- additional funding for the production of various types of drones;
- joint production projects with European countries.
The president expressed hope for adherence to the timelines for each agreement.
New Tasks for Long-Range Operations
The meeting also defined new tasks regarding long-range capabilities. Zelensky stated that the implementation of these tasks is a crucial part of Ukraine's defense strategy. He discussed these issues separately with military experts, including Yevhen Khmara and Mykhailo Drapaty.
The president emphasized that the new tasks for long-range operations are part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing Ukraine's defense effectiveness.
International Contacts and Peace Initiatives
Zelensky also discussed with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten the possibilities of supporting the work of the Ukrainian military, particularly through the supply of new means for air defense. He stressed the importance of realistic proposals that could bring peace closer but noted that for this to happen, Russia must take negotiations seriously and not prolong the war with new excuses.
