On September 22, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. During the talks, they discussed issues related to financial support for Ukraine for the upcoming year and the importance of fulfilling obligations to international partners.
Financial Support for Ukraine
Zelensky noted that the IMF is ready to help find part of the funds necessary to ensure Ukraine's financial stability in 2027. The president emphasized that this assistance is critically important given the current security situation in the country.
Obligations to Partners
Discussing legislative initiatives, Zelensky reported that the Verkhovna Rada has already voted on part of the necessary decisions. He assured that by the end of the year, all other laws that are obligations of Ukraine to international partners will be adopted. This includes:
- legislative initiatives related to financial stability;
- reforms necessary to improve the investment climate;
- changes in legislation that promote business development.
Security Situation in Ukraine
The president also touched upon the security situation in Ukraine, noting that Russia is changing its tactics in aerial attacks. According to him, the aggressor's goal is not only to destroy lives but also to paralyze the work of businesses and the state. In this regard, macro-financial assistance from international partners becomes particularly important for Ukraine.
