On October 9, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a selector meeting with military and government officials, discussing critical issues related to the restoration of energy systems and the situation on the frontline.
Restoration of Energy Systems
The President expressed gratitude to all repair teams, energy company workers, and regional authorities who are promptly restoring the operation of energy systems following Russian strikes. However, he noted that many energy networks and electricity transmission facilities have sustained significant damage. Restoration is ongoing around the clock, and the needs for energy equipment and anti-aircraft defense packages have been updated.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the President's Office team are preparing appropriate communication with international partners, and Zelensky plans to hold talks with leaders of other countries.
Issues with the Implementation of Resilience Plans
The meeting also discussed the timelines for implementing resilience plans, particularly in Kyiv Oblast and other regions. The President emphasized that delays in work are absolutely unacceptable, and the responsibility lies with the Ministry of Infrastructure and regional administrations.
Specific tasks were identified for Kyiv, given the almost complete failure of the city authorities to take necessary steps. A report on the situation in Priluki in Chernihiv Oblast was also heard, where Zelensky instructed to prepare a complete package of decisions by the end of the week.
Frontline Situation
In particular, the meeting included a report from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces regarding the situation on the frontline, focusing on Donetsk Oblast, especially in the areas of Kostyantynivka, Dobropillia, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk. The President reported on the results of destroying the enemy's "leaks" in Dobropillia.
Zelensky emphasized that decisions have been made that are expected to take effect in the coming weeks and thanked every unit that is fulfilling the assigned tasks. Glory to Ukraine!
