On October 28, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concern about Kyiv's preparedness for the winter season and potential attacks from Russia. According to him, the capital is not as prepared as Kharkiv, which has managed to cope with winter preparations much better.
Issues with Kyiv's Preparation
Zelensky stated that Klitschko cannot handle the capital's problems alone. He emphasized the need to involve additional resources and specialists to improve the situation in Kyiv. The President proposed considering candidates such as Maluk, Kubrakov, Groysman, and Sukhomlin to strengthen the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA).
Refusal of Candidates
Unfortunately, all proposed candidates declined the offers. According to Zelensky, Sukhomlin refused as soon as he learned that it was about Kyiv, and other potential leaders also showed no desire to head the KMVA. The President noted that the situation is critical, as "no one wants to take on Kyiv."
