In the night of November 7, 2026, Ukraine faced a massive missile strike from Russia, resulting in the destruction of only 4 out of 36 launched missiles. This was reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Shortage of Interceptor Missiles
Zelensky pointed out that the primary reason for such a low interception rate is the significant shortage of interceptor missiles for the Patriot system. The President emphasized that the situation regarding the supply of air defense systems remains critical, complicating the protection against missile attacks.
Use of Korean Missiles
Additionally, Zelensky reported that during the attack, Russian forces used KN-23 missiles, which are manufactured and supplied by North Korea. These missiles struck one of Ukraine's key energy facilities, highlighting the severity of the threat the country faces.
Reserve Transport Schemes
In light of the situation, the President instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Kyiv City State Administration to develop reserve transport schemes in Kyiv. According to him, such reserve schemes do not currently exist at the city level, which may complicate the movement of the population in the event of further attacks.
