Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview on the podcast The Diary of a CEO spoke about the horrific crimes committed by Russian occupiers in Bucha, where mass graves and signs of torture were discovered during the liberation of the city.
The Horrors Experienced by Bucha Residents
Zelensky emphasized that after the liberation of Bucha, hatred towards Russian soldiers emerged, not only due to the start of the war but also because of the horrific crimes committed in the city. The President noted that during the liberation, the following were found:
- around five hundred dead in mass graves;
- traces of torture on adults and children;
- instances of shooting civilians and animals.
These horrifying facts shocked Ukrainian society and caused deep outrage.
A Call to the World
Zelensky recounted how he ordered journalists to be brought to Bucha so that the world could see the truth about what was happening. He stressed the importance of documenting these crimes, stating that:
- “This is necessary for the whole world to see”;
- “How can we listen to Putin after this?”;
- “How can we forgive after this?”
The President pointed out that Russian soldiers were hunting civilians, shooting from military equipment, which caused horror and outrage not only in Ukraine but also beyond its borders.
