Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in an interview with ABC News that over the past three months, Ukraine has received only 24 missiles for the Patriot air defense system from the United States. This has raised concerns as the country needs an average of 350 missiles per month to adequately protect its cities from Russian ballistic strikes.
Critical Need for Missiles
Zelensky emphasized that the current supplies do not meet Ukraine's actual needs. He noted that in the last three months, the actual supply from the US accounted for less than 3% of the required missiles. This means that Ukraine needs:
- 350 missiles per month;
- 1050 missiles over three months.
Thus, out of the 1050 missiles needed, Ukraine has received only 24, highlighting a significant gap between Ukraine's requests and the reality of supplies.
The Importance of US Support
Zelensky pointed out that US support is critically important for Ukraine, especially in the face of ongoing threats from Russia. He called for an acceleration of supplies to ensure the safety of Ukrainian cities and its population. The president also stressed that Ukraine does not intend to "cry" over insufficient assistance, but the situation requires urgent action.
