On October 27, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine's positions on the front remain the strongest they have been in a long time. He emphasized the importance of international support, particularly in supplying air defense systems.
Successes of the Armed Forces in Liberating Territories
Zelensky reported that over the year, Ukrainian forces liberated more than 1000 sq km of territory. This was made possible by two main operations:
- The Assault Troops Operation, during which 800 sq km were liberated;
- The Vivaldi Operation in Donetsk, which resulted in the liberation of over 200 sq km.
Additionally, Zelensky mentioned that another operation called Veles is ongoing, aimed at strengthening Ukraine's positions.
The Importance of International Support
The President stressed that if the support from international partners remained as strong, particularly in supplying missiles for the Patriot systems and other air defense means, Ukraine could have significantly better positions both on the front and in diplomatic matters.
However, he also expressed concern about significant limitations in supply, which, according to him, are delaying crucial air defense packages.
